Corl Street Elementary School is a neighborhood elementary school with originally only 14 classrooms and limited support educational space.
The modernization and expansion of the existing school provide additional space for up to 400 students. With educational spaces for small group instruction, learning support, and flexible small and individual learning programs added to the school, Corl Street is leading their students into the next era of education. The project is LEED Platinum certified and includes sustainable features such as a green roof and photovoltaic panels.
The structure is built primarily of load-bearing masonry walls on shallow foundations. Tall clerestories and pop-up framing were constructed with steel-tube framing (AESS) with acoustical deck throughout the school.
