Onyx provided structural engineering services for two key buildings within the transformative Barry Farm redevelopment in Washington, D.C. This large-scale project aims to revitalize the historic neighborhood with new housing, amenities, and infrastructure, preserving the area's cultural significance while addressing community needs. Onyx’s work included stabilizing and renovating a row of townhomes on Stevens Road to create an amenity space, requiring innovative solutions such as leveling uneven slabs on grade and remediating wood framing. The second project, located on a separate parcel, involved designing structural systems for new affordable housing units, utilizing modern wood-frame construction techniques tailored to meet safety and efficiency standards. Onyx’s contributions ensured safe and efficient designs tailored to the unique challenges of each site, reinforcing the vision of a vibrant, inclusive urban community.
