Ellicott Mills

The historic Wilkins Rogers Flour Mill, the last active flour mill in Maryland until its decommissioning in 2020, will be reimagined as a mixed-use, multi-family development. The project features loft units in the Roadside building’s upper levels and a three-story wood-framed vertical expansion on the Riverside building. The project qualifies for Maryland’s historic tax credits, recognizing its careful adherence to preservation standards while adapting the site for modern use. Features include a new elevated pool, retail and restaurant spaces, over 190 apartments, and a museum showcasing the mill's history. Onyx’s structural design services included a seismic evaluation for the vertical expansion, building envelope repair and remediation, and new wood and steel-framed design to integrate modern amenities with the site’s and building's historic character.
